Fleet Tracking Features: Data Visualisation

We transform the data held within the fleet tracking service in a number of different ways, to help users quickly find the information they're looking for.

I/O graphs

Each hardware device typically supports several different analog and digital interfaces. In some cases these are actual physical interfaces provided by the hardware, but we also provide pseudo I/O points as well, such as speed.

The historical values for each I/O point can be displayed on a graph, which obviously provides much more feedback than simply viewing a table of data on screen. It's also possible to combine several analog and digital values on the same graph which can prove useful when a relationship exists between those points, e.g. the opening of a door and the corresponding temperature within a refrigerated unit.

Utilisation

An example of the utilisation view for a single device over the course of a month. A similar view is also available for all devices in a group over the course of a single day.

The utilisation view shows a Gantt-like representation of vehicle movement over the course of a day. Vehicle movement is clearly identifiable, and a single-click shows you the detail of each journey.

Two key types of utilisation view are available:

  • The activity of several devices over the course of a single day
  • The activity of a single device over the course of a whole month.

Territory plot

The territory plot allows the locations visited by different devices to be compared on a map. The resulting display can be useful in identifying overlapping territories, or conversely areas that haven't been covered by any vehicle.
